Target.com Drop Ship EDI Integration

What is Target.com Drop Ship EDI?

Target.com Drop-Ship is Target’s direct-to-consumer program, where suppliers ship customer orders by parcel directly from their own warehouse. It works differently from every other Target program — orders are addressed to consumers, every order and every change requires an acknowledgment, and ship notices are subject to a transmission batching limit.

Tech85 Owl - Bright

Target.com drop-ship works differently from every other Target program. Orders are addressed to consumers, ship by parcel, and only arrive if Target can see your inventory. Target expects you to acknowledge every order and every change, and it enforces limits on how ship notices are sent. We’ve supported Target.com drop-ship for years, and every one of those requirements is already built into our platform.

Ensure compliance, efficiency, and growth by connecting with Target.com Drop Ship through Tech85’s custom-fit EDI solutions.

What we handle for you

  • An inventory feed that keeps Target.com selling. Target.com only sells what it can see. We automate the inventory feed from your system, so your products stay available and Target doesn’t sell stock you don’t have.
  • Consumer orders, fully detailed. Drop-ship orders carry the customer’s address, the Target.com order number, the parcel ship method, and Target’s item identifiers alongside your own. We bring every piece into your system.
  • Order and change acknowledgments. Target expects a response to every drop-ship order and every change. We send both automatically, so nothing sits unanswered.
  • Ship notice batching. Target limits how many ship notices can travel in a single transmission. On high-volume days we split them automatically, so nothing gets rejected at the limit.
  • Parcel shipping, not DC compliance. Drop-ship cartons ship by parcel with tracking, not with the GS1-128 labels Target Retail requires. We build the drop-ship ship notice around the parcel.

How it works

  1. Confirm your program. You ship Target.com customer orders directly to consumers.
  2. We configure your connection. Target.com drop-ship is already built on our platform.
  3. We certify with Target, starting with the inventory feed and a consumer order through to ship notice and acknowledgment.
  4. You go live. Orders flow in as Target.com sells your products, and everything Target expects back flows out automatically.

Technical notes

Target.com drop-ship is a separate connection from Target Retail, with its own identifier and standard delimiters. If you also ship to Target DCs or stores, that’s Target Retail. Our specification library includes Target’s drop-ship guidelines, including the change acknowledgment guide.

Frequently asked questions

Tech85

How long does it take to become EDI-compliant with a new retailer?
Most Tech85 clients complete EDI onboarding and testing in 6–8 days, compared to the 6–8 weeks common with legacy EDI providers — because setup is handled by our team, not left to you to configure alone.
What if I'm already compliant but want to switch providers?
Tech85 maps your existing trading partner connection during onboarding, so there’s no gap in order processing and no need to renegotiate your relationship with the retailer.
