Amazon Vendor Central EDI Integration

What is Amazon Vendor Central EDI?

Amazon Vendor Central EDI is the wholesale purchase order exchange between Amazon and its direct suppliers. Amazon issues purchase orders and you ship to its fulfillment centers, exchanging the 850, 855, 856, 810, and 997 — a separate connection from Direct Fulfillment or Seller Central, Amazon’s other two selling programs.

Tech85 Owl - Bright

Amazon Vendor Central is one of our longest-running retailer connections, and it’s where most suppliers start with Amazon — and where most Amazon compliance issues start too: ship notices that don’t match the freight, acknowledgments that promise more than you can ship, and invoices that don’t tie back to the order. Tech85 handles all of it, so your team works in your own system and Amazon gets exactly what it expects.

Ensure compliance, efficiency, and growth by connecting with Amazon Vendor Central through Tech85’s custom-fit EDI solutions.

What we handle for you

  • Fulfillment center addressing. Amazon identifies each fulfillment center by an Address ID, not a street address. We resolve every Address ID against Amazon’s current fulfillment center list and carry it through to the ship notice and the carton label, so freight arrives at the right building.
  • Ship notices for every way you ship. Amazon expects a different ASN structure for small parcel, cartons with serialized labels, pallets, and mixed pallets, and it expects lot and expiration detail when your products carry it. We build the right one from how the shipment was actually packed.
  • Honest acknowledgments. Amazon measures what you confirm against what you ship. Our acknowledgments respond line by line — accepted, backordered with a date, or rejected — so your confirmations match reality.
  • Ship windows. Every Vendor Central order carries a do-not-ship-before and do-not-ship-after date. We bring both into your system so your team sees them.
  • Amazon-compliant labels. Carton labels are generated to Amazon’s labeling guidelines and tied to the ship notice, so what Amazon scans matches what Amazon was told.

How it works

  1. Confirm your program. You have an Amazon vendor code and ship to Amazon fulfillment centers.
  2. We configure your connection. Your vendor code and ship-from locations go into our existing Vendor Central setup.
  3. We certify with Amazon. We test the documents Amazon requires of you before anything goes live.
  4. You go live. Orders flow in, and acknowledgments, ASNs, and invoices flow out automatically.

Technical notes

Amazon runs Vendor Central across two X12 versions, and not every vendor has been moved to the newer one. We support both, and we match the version Amazon has assigned to your account. Our Amazon specification library includes Amazon’s mapping guides, ASN validation rules, labeling guidelines, the Vendor Prep and Transportation Manual, and the North America fulfillment center address list.

Frequently asked questions

Tech85

How long does it take to become EDI-compliant with a new retailer?
Most Tech85 clients complete EDI onboarding and testing in 6–8 days, compared to the 6–8 weeks common with legacy EDI providers — because setup is handled by our team, not left to you to configure alone.
What if I'm already compliant but want to switch providers?
Tech85 maps your existing trading partner connection during onboarding, so there’s no gap in order processing and no need to renegotiate your relationship with the retailer.

Amazon Vendor Central

What EDI documents does Amazon Vendor Central require?
The 850 purchase order, 855 acknowledgment, 856 advance ship notice, 810 invoice, and 997 functional acknowledgment. Collect-freight routing (753/754) is available for vendors whose freight terms require it.
How does Amazon identify its fulfillment centers?
By an Address ID rather than a street address. We resolve every Address ID against Amazon’s current fulfillment center list and carry it through to the ship notice and carton label, so freight arrives at the right building.
What ASN structure does Amazon Vendor Central require?
It depends on how the shipment was packed — Amazon expects a different structure for small parcel, cartons with serialized labels, pallets, and mixed pallets, plus lot and expiration detail where your products carry it. We build the one that matches how the shipment actually moved.
Does Amazon Vendor Central use more than one EDI version?
Yes. Amazon runs Vendor Central across two X12 versions at once, and not every vendor has been moved to the newer one. We support both and match whichever version Amazon has assigned to your account.
